Camber

Tides: Camber works best 3 hours either side of low tide.

Wind directions: W, SW, S, SE, E

Information: There is a kite zone at camber sands this is at the Jury’s Gap car park at the eastern end of the beach. There is a large free car park here. The beach is large and sandy 3 hours either side of low although after it is on the shingle with regular groins. The beach can get busy in the summer and there are 2 wrecks at the eastern end of the beach. It is the best beach to use in the SW to S winds.

Greatstone

Tides: Greatstone works at all times apart from an hour either side of high water.

Wind directions: N, NE, E, SE, S

Information: Greatstone is a huge kiteable area stretching from the tip of Dungeness to St. Mary’s Bay. It provides excellent conditions particularly in side on to onshore conditions. It works in most tides apart from around high tide although even this is ok in neaps. It provides shallow conditions and steady winds apart from in a N perfect for learning. There are some patches of mud that can be ankle deep although the main issue is the long walk at low tide. There is regularly parking around greatstone although some is free and some is pay and display.

Hythe and Folkestone

Tides: These beaches work at all tide states although at high tides only certain parts of the beach are launchable and there are rocks at various positions.

Wind directions: SW, S, SE, E

Informations: Hythe and folkestone are shingle deep water beaches even at low tide. It is therefore imperative that kitsurfers can perform deep water relauches and body drag upwind. The beaches do not present the best water conditions with it mainly consisting of choppy conditions apart from at the bottom of low tide. The best conditions are SW, SE and E. In a southerley with the shore dump means it can extremely hard to get off the beach. At the top of high tide it is kiteable but you must choose your spot carefully as some of the beach is too narrow to launch and land. The most popular places to kite are at the Hythe end by the Imperial hotel and the Hythe bay fish resturant. There is free parking available along most of the road that runs adjacent to the beach.
